They eat bugs so keep pests down. Hard to kill so pesticides do not work.

My dog sniffed one in the house and boy you should have seen her head and the scorp fly into the air. We did not know if she was stung so off we went to the vet who gave her a bunch of shots.

I have seen a total of 7 inside houses and gee bout 20 or 40 outside houses. Wait till you see a tarantula hawk! They like eucalyptus trees that some people have. Those things they say wont kill you with their sting, but you would wish it had!

What is a tarantula hawk? I live in Pa and i don't think we have those things here.

It is a wasp that lays its eggs inside of tarantulas.

My wife saw a lizard run in our back door the other day and head for my office. She says it's under my desk. If I find it you can have it to eat your scorpion. I just hope it doesn't die in the house, but I suppose it would be easier to find then...just follow my nose.

If it was a gecko and it dies, it will just dry out, no muss, no smell. They are good luck to have in the home, although I imagine a climate-controlled house probably doesn't provide all that much food for them.

Well, I had one die in a bucket in the garage and the smell was pretty bad for a few days until I found it, though it looked like a piece of leather. We get a few spiders, and I had some rover ants, but we poisoned them. Not much chance he'll make a living in the house, but in this economy, he's probably looking for unemployment benefits.

Small tan scorpions in Las Vegas are the wrong kind. Kill them.

Get a black light and search the joint. Find any kill them.

Calk. Any crack you can find...calk it. If there are no holes they can't get in.

Check vents. Anyplace anything comes through the wall check it out and fill the holes. If it can't be sealed cover it with screen.

Second floor in an apartment is a very unusual place for a scorpion to appear. May be a fluke. See what happens over a few months.

Always check your shoes. Don't know about Texas, but most apartment complexes have weekly or bi-weekly pest control service come out.

and be careful of stuff you buy at yard sales, etc. You might be getting more than you bargained for. My scorpions come out at night for meals. I carry a flashlight, and watch where I am stepping if I have to go to the bathroom. I only see about 3 a year. I catch them with an inverted glass, slide the cardboard under the glass, and take them outside if I am quick enough. I live in the mountains. I saw a giant hairy scorpion outside. He was cool. pretty, actually. I have a bed net over my bed, and tuck it in all around. Great investment.

While reading this thread, another centipede fell on me from the skylight above my couch. I jumped up and nearly dropped my computer.

It doesn't help that I just finished watching this:
