Subject says it all. I'm staying in the Venetian, and while eating breakfast I look out my window and see what looks like a falling star? A Meteorite?

Anyone know what this is?

Here's a pic of what I saw? I'd say that I saw it at around 5:45 - 6am PST.

Back when I was about 10 years old I was walking along a dirt road- it was a bright day with a perfectly blue sky- I looked up and saw a bright lime green ball of fire go the full length of the sky from south to north. It was a meteorite. It is still burned in my memory to this day- You would expect to see this stuff at night- but to see it in the day was very impressive.

While on this subject, back when I was about 15 years old, I was sitting at the dining room table late at night putting together a jigsaw puzzle. I happened to look up at just the right time, looking out the window, and in the night sky, something was streaking across the sky and erupted in a big ball of red stuff. Very weird. Never saw anything like it since.
And for what it's worth, I have seen the most amount of shooting stars since living in the Las Vegas valley than anywhere else I have lived.

I saw the same thing at night- we lived on a little lake and it was very dark- then at what was tree top level this ball of fire came roaring by. This was in the 50s - I am not sure what it was- It could have been a very very low flying military jet...but I doubt it...back then I don't think they had the skill or know how to streak by 6o feet of the ground. You mention being in a desert climate...Las Vegas valley probably has very little light pollution...hence better visual. I had forgotten how much is going on up there- I visited my brothers house which is far from the blinding city- I looked up and was struck with awe..If you look even for a few minutes you will see a lot of streaking - things are falling constantly.
