Back in the 60's spy planes were being flown out of area 51. The Oxbow project with planes that could get to Mach 3 unheard of in those days. They crashed a few of them also. These planes were stealth built something new so the Russians could not pick them up.The bottoms were left very shiny so the radar waves would reflect away from them many lights and etc would reflect off of them and show up in other areas and the light as refracted. It is still a top secret test base so in about 30 years they will declassify the info and then people will find out what we were seeing.

Um... The more reflective a surface is, the larger it's going to appear on a RADAR display...
Stealth technologies defeat RADAR primarily by
absorbing the light rays, and/or to a lesser extent scattering them.
So if you see a metallic object in the sky and it's got a "very shiny" appearance, you know it's glowing like a firefly on the RADAR system at the nearest airport.

I was using information from the book I am reading Area 51 an uncensored history of Americas top secret military base written by Anne Jacobsen. This is a good read because it takes you from the beginning to the end of declassified information that has been released through the years up to 2011 and it has information about the development of the man spy planes programs and the atomic bombs programs there and testing. In present day radar detection you are correct but keep in mind I was using information from late 1950 into the 60's where radar was still crude then and speed was the thing to trick Russian Radar. Please keep in mind military aircraft had only reached speeds of 400 to 500 MPH where the spy planes were from Mach1 to mach 3 topping out at 2,300 mph or 1/2 mile per 1/2 second and flying from 70,000 to 90,000 ft in the atmosphere. The U-2 program had a bad result (Gary Powers) getting shot down in the late 50's DDE was still president. The Oxcart program sprang from this and of course the CIA ran the whole thing out of area 51 and other secret bases around the world. It also covers the power struggles within the CIA and with the Air force and the Presidents and close advisers. This was also the fore father to the Drones we see today as they were developed for taking readings in atomic blasts areas and etc and tested for spying. I am up to the Johnson Administration right now but who knows what is being tested out there now and what we think we are seeing. Back in the 50's the Roswell Incident was covered up with the weather balloon explanation and people bought into that so lets keep an open mind on what we see in the sky's or at least until it is de-classified which will be years from now. Our spying is done by satellite now but the whole drone thing I am sure is progressing into what ? and what they are as they get more fined tuned to be man hunters and spying here on earth. Of course their is the whole other thing about alien space craft and etc but that is another post in it's own.
