Sounds like you have a technical issue. I would call cox to get it resolved asap. I use the premier cox service and I consistently get around 25-27mbps download speeds. I am running netflix, 3 computers, X-box, PS-3, and various handheld devices and still everything works. I am extremely happy with cox since I switched from century link.

I've got the highest tier on Cox (Discounted to $76 from $110) and it comes with 400GB/month
We're cordcutters so all we do is Netflix/Roku/etc., and I've never gotten near my cap.

Tip: You can adjust Netflix bandwidth settings in the menu so that your children don't get HD streams

Wonder what they do when top tier customers go past their cap, if there's no higher service to switch to?

One last thing, I think Cox business customers don't have a cap, but you pay a ridiculous amount for the same service

I have been getting this warning every month. So far just a letter nothing else. I can move to the next tier but our data would still be above that one too.

"We have provided notice to you recently regarding your monthly data usage allowance, and as a reminder your current Cox High Speed Internet package includes 300 Gigabytes of data usage. As of July 01, 2013, your household has used 317 Gigabytes of data in the current billing cycle, which exceeds your plan amount for the current month.

Remember that you can view your data usage by logging into your account and checking your data usage meter in Internet Tools"

It's not ridiculous, if you look at all the options out there for business customers. It's actually very affordable.

I pay about 2x what I pay at home for our business connection, and that includes faster speeds (in both directions, and upstream matters quite a lot for us), and a /28 CIDR block. You can't touch that even for twice the price with any other business Internet provider.

Also, with a business connection, you get a Service Level Agreement. That's got value. A lot of value, if your Internet connection is mission critical. I wish I could pay an extra fee for an SLA on our residential connection.
