If it wouldn't trouble you any, could you call and inquire on the cost of the related packages and report them here? I'm sure a lot of eyes will be happy to read it. It would at least be informative if anything.

I live in Aliante and got the same email. I was pretty stoked since they indicated they would alert me "when fiber was available in my neighborhood." I called the number and spoke to the sales dept in Henderson. The rep plugged in my address and then tried to sell me 25Mbps for $72 (best speed available in my neighborhood). I declined as Cox gives me 50Mbps down for the same price.

Anyway, big downer. I seriously would jump ship for 1000Mbps in a heartbeat.

I recently (barely) exceeded the 300 Gigabyte limit per month (upload/download combined) on the Cox Premier internet. I have IP Cams that use a chunk, movies and videos accounted for the rest. I considered upgrading to the Cox 150Mbps, but the cap on that is only 400 Gigabytes. Hopefully they don't terminate my service...

Pretty ridiculous to cap their Ultimate service that low. To put that into perspective, imagine you were able to download (something huge) at the advertised 150Mbps; you downloaded this chunk of information and after 45 minutes of downloading you will have exceeded your monthly 400 Gigabyte cap. (150Mbps * 60 seconds = 9 Gigabytes per minute. 45 minutes x 9 Gigabytes = 405 Gigabytes)

If you exceed your data plan, Cox will attempt to notify you by one or more methods; email, phone, or messages on your computer. You can choose to reduce your data usage or select a different Cox High Speed Internet package that better fits your needs. In some cases, you may not be aware you are exceeding your data plan because your computers are infected with a virus that is sending spam or otherwise consuming data usage or you are sharing your Internet connection through an open Wi-Fi access point. Cox strives to work with you proactively before taking action to suspend service. However, in rare cases of extremely high usage, Cox will suspend your service until you call Cox. In even rarer cases, Cox will terminate your service if you do not decrease your usage after consultation with Cox.

There's a problem with your calculation. The speed is 150Mbps (megabits not megabytes). There are 8 bits to a byte so 150 Mbps = 150/8 megabytes per second. So the actual time required to exceed your monthly cap is 355.56 minutes = 5.93 hours which is about 8 times what you calculated.

Thanks, I always misinterpret that!
