Sent from rotary phone...
If I remember right, they were purchased last year by an investor. Supposed to be rentals, originally supposed to be condos

This skeptic will have to see it, to believe it, that this Genting Group actually resumes construction on the Echelon sight. There was a big article in the paper this morning, regarding this project, apparently they're awaiting approval from the Gaming Board to resume construction.

There's way, way too much money to be made in Asian locales and I just can't see them blowing the projected $4-7 Billion on this project given the expected return on their investment and given the questionable area of this part of the Strip.

They may not have access to those asian locales (thinking Macao), and there may be enough action in Vegas to justify it. Being out of Malaysia, Genting knows it's way around Asia. A big question is how they're going to finance the project.

The same way they have financed all their other projects in Asia. Genting is not a fly by night company. They have deep pockets.

Digging up the old thread and your post, Genting cleared one of the big hurdles today>>I'll still believe it when I see it on opening day, lol, but hey, it's good news with the potential to add 8500 jobs to the Las Vegas job market

Officials with the Nevada Gaming Control Board recommended a gaming license for Genting Berhad, the investment arm of Genting Group. The matter is scheduled for a second round of scrutiny May 22 before the Nevada Gaming Commission.
Officials with Genting, which operates casinos in the Asia, the United Kingdom, the Bahamas and New York, told regulators they plan to break ground this year on Resorts World Las Vegas. The project would incorporate 80 percent to 85 percent of the buildings in the partially built Echelon project and directly create about 8,500 jobs.

Looks like a dolt at the Associated Press.

I see spelling and grammatical errors so often in the news releases, headlines, story content, even the CNN news ticker on TV! What happened to old fashioned proof reading? lol
