Me and my wife are thinking about retiring to Las Vegas to live out our lives in a city we love to visit so much. While it will be a good while before we do, I was just wondering what the mobile home scene is there? We would like to see our home here and buy a double wide in a nice park (maybe a 50 and over park if they have any). We could rent the lot but I would prefer a "park condo" where we actually purchase the lot as well as the home. Do they have good parks in Vegas? How do mobile homes fare in the hot summers there?

Most of the mobile home sites are dumps. And alot have been going under due to developers buying the land for high-rises.
You may want to try Pahrump for a better deal on those.

I can't think if any mobile home park in Las Vegas that I'd call "good" by any stretch. Granted, I moved out of LV almost 10 years ago, but on visits since then, I've seen that several of the parks have been torn down and replaced with new development, and the ones that remain have only gotten worse. And I don't think there's been a huge push for new trailer park development, so I wouldn't count on finding anything you'd want to live in.

You might also want to look into Boulder City. They have building restrictions that don't allow new construction, but I believe mobile homes are an exception to this rule.

Be careful with this folks. There are still some reasonably nice mobile home parks around. The ones that are running down and going away are the rent a slab places. The ones with lot ownership are still going strong. The one on Decatur for instance has senior citizen sections. Some even have strip views. There is a whole neigborhood of manufactured homes at the corner of Craig and Rainbow.

You mean like the one in 'Vegas Vacation' where Clark's cousin lived?

Don't know how you residents feel about that movie...but it makes me laugh real hard whenever I watch it!

There are quite a few nice mobile home parks nestled in many areas. One of the nicest is off buffalo and cimmaron

Desert Inn Estates I & II, near Sam's Town, is where you own the land, with no lot rent. HOA dues are minimal! Very nice areas, IMO!

I'd never, ever retire in a mobile home park with lot rent. The next mobile home park owner could jack up the lot rent, and? There goes your retirement budget!
