The OP needs to join the US Army for a tour so that he can make a clean break with his past.

If they accept him.

The military is not for everyone. OP has attention span issues. I don't think he'll be a round-peg in the Army. I like the South Dakota advice the most. Make a bunch of money, and then arrive somewhere with a little cushion.

The military has a way of getting the vast majority of those who join get with the program. From what I've read from the OP, he could use some of the attitude adjustment being in the military would bring. Who knows, he might even be able to learn some useful skills.

I hope he made the correct decision because once he does get a few dependents hez basically stuck where he is.. Get a job, get a life and then get a wife. Do it out of that order and it's going to be a lot of years of misery because once the bills start coming on a consistent basis it's hard to make any adjustments.. Baby needs new shoes..
