Hello,

I will be hosting Thanksgiving this year and looking to reserve a fresh turkey. Does anyone have any recommendations in the area around West Lake Mead Boulevard.

I know Whole Foods Market is an option, but is there a farm or meat market in the area as well?

Thanks,

Village Meat and Deli, Eastern Ave & Tropicana. Not in your area, but that's where I'd buy my bird.

The best you're going to find in the valley. Without a doubt.

However, I've met perhaps a dozen people outside the restaurant business who know how to properly roast a turkey. Unless the cook does the job right, the $5/lb organic heritage turkey is not much better than the free turkeys they hand out at megamarts. In fact, all that brine they pump into the cheap-ass birds will actually yield a better (but still horribly overcooked) meal.

Alton Brown will take you most of the way to turkey nirvana.

John Mull's Meats probably has them as well. Larry's Great Western Meats is also an option to check out. Both are easily found on a Google search.

I love Alton. He's the reason I make my own chili powder and chicken stock now

Why not have a truly traditional Thanksgiving and not worry about the turkey....
