I will be in Las Vegas on Thanksgiving 2008. Is it possible to get into one of the buffets or are they too busy to be practical and enjoyable? Any other suggestions of where to have Thanksgiving dinner would be appreciated. Thanks.

Last year we were in LA on Thanksgiving, and since many places down there close on holidays, we had looked around like you are for a place to go. We ended up at Maggiano's and it was really a nice, traditional, Thanksgiving dinner. There were several courses and way more than we could eat, but they were ready for that with to-go boxes. Ours is on the corner of Spring Mountain Road and The Strip (Las Vegas Boulevard) in the Fashion Show Mall over looking Wynn. It's really nice if you can get a seat by the window. I forget how far in advance we made the reservation, but I gather that if you wait until the day of, you'll be out of luck.

By the way, you can always get in the buffets, but on Thanksgiving you might find really long lines. The best buffet in town is at Bellagio. We waited in line for over an hour on Christmas Eve one year.

The Station casino's prices hover around $15 a person give or take for Thanksgiving buffets. The Bellagio will be a lot more.
The most we've ever waited in previous years to actually get into the buffet was 2 hours max. If you are really starving, skip the buffet line and head for any of the various restaurants inside and the wait is much less, 20 minutes to 45 minutes depending on the place.

if i remember, the bellagio buffet was around $30 or so... granted its not priced like a station casino, but the food is a hundred times better.

well, it is either that or I buy all the fixins, do the prep, cook it, and then clean it. Hmmm, $30. is probably more than worth it. 'Cept for the leftovers.
