Anyone see the show about former sheriff Ralph Lamb? We were underwhelmed. They even mispronounced Ely. We'll give it one more episode to get better. If it doesn't it's off our DVR list.

We thought the same thing. Such big build up for a show that looks like everything else: watered down drama made for the lowest common denominator. Why can't the big networks learn from the other cable networks which are making truly compelling TV like Breaking Bad, Game Of Thrones, Dexter, etc.

On a different note, is this the Lamb that the street on the eastern part of time is named?

thats the one......Senator Floyd Lamb, Sheriff Ralph Lamb, County Ciommissioner Darwin Lamb [not JACK] Sone was a Bacaratt Pit Boss at 18 yrs old.

Lamb Family was originally from Alamo, Sheriff was a rancher who became a Sheriff in approximately the way the show indicated and was to MOST of us, possibly the embodiment of what a TRUE Western Sheiff should be.

The show was hacked up....the Hells Angels incident did occur but in a differant way the depicted....[alto 1960 was before I came here so its possible that the incident did occur in town.] but in 1972 the HA from San Bernardino DID come to Las Vegas to take over the town..... they got as far as Whiskey Petes [now Primm] and Ralph and ONE deputy [his driver] met then on the hwy coming across the dry lake bed [no interstate just 2 lanes] Sheriff told then to "Go home boys" [wilth a 12 gauge cradled in his arm] HA laughed at him....Sheriff blew the front fork of a Harley chopper,,,,250 bikes turner around and went back to San Berdardino....leavinf one with no fork in the middle of the road....Sheriff and his deputy pushed it off onto the ditch and came back to town.

I'll give it a chance.......
The Mayor [Oran Gragson[] was AS UGLY as the one in the show but stuttered so bad he couldnt put two words together.....

I usually find pilots for shows are underwhelming, so I'm giving it a couple more weeks before I decide, but my initial impression was that the writing was pretty bad and it was just...jumpy. People seemed to talk fast and the scenes ran together too quickly for my taste...I had trouble following what was going on and not sure the casting is very believable either. Critics around here are raving about it, but maybe that's just because Ralph's still alive and they want to honor him (no disrespect meant there).

It's not quite in the same league as Game of Thrones or Deadwood--I feel those are more specialty drama--but I'd put it up there with Breaking Bad, SOA, and the like...drama for those of us who don't get HBO ;-) And I'd take BB and SOA over Vegas any day. Too bad, it could have been really good--there's so much history here!

The problem is the story wasn't that intriguing. I will watch next couple of episodes.
Seems like they had to quickly develop the characters for people who are unaware of who Lamb was.

everyone's all happy at the initial ratings but thats just due to the heavy marketing blitz and some positive reviews. I'd be very surprised it doesn't lose a decent chunk of that initial audience.
