It's on CBS Tuesdays... at 10pm I believe (the time could be wrong)

I didn't think it was so bad honestly. You have to remember it is Hollywood, their goal is not to be 100% historically accurate, it is to entertain. Though I could see for those that do know the history well that watching it could be like seeing them ruin a good book in film.

Also it was a pilot episode, I think they normally are a little fast paced, try to squeeze way too much in too short of time. It's just to get everyone up to speed, and to tell them the important boring stuff as quickly as possible so they can get on to the real show, and in some cases to test the show out on the audience.

Who knows they may still totally bomb it, but I would say at least give it another episode or two.

The episode seems to be made up of lots of bits n peices.....so far i like it

Sheriff b.t.w. was a WORLD Class Calf Roper....used to roep out at the arena off of Nellis n Charleston.....

We had the FIRST RED FLAG joint Army Airforce operations here in about 1963....The Army from Palm springs, the AF from Nellis and from Phoenix and the 82nd Airborne from....GA I think....

They gave the 82nd a weekend pass and the boys headed to Fremont Street....they hooted n hollered and chased all the hookers, then they got serious.....and turned a City PO lice car upside down on first Street between Binions n whatever that little joint was next to it....

the PO lice didn't like it one bit so they started chasin about 10 Jeeps fulla Airborn back to their Bivowack area in the Desert across from Nellis....they got to the gate and the MP's said ....Nope.

The called their Commander outta bed to the gate and the Commander said NOPE.

SO they brought out the Chief of PO lice....Company commander relented under the full force of Las Vegas's finest....Said "Sure come on in n look around "

about 150 82nd Airborne guys jacked shells into the chamber of their M1 Carbines.....Chief a PO lice said.....NOPE.....mistaken identity.....

Would have been a differant outcome with Ralph there.
I have been around the military my whole life and this is probably what really happened....

The army "boys" got a lot frisky and started causing trouble (hence the overturned police car) and they were sent packing back to their area with the police following. The Chief of Police was notified and he headed out to the area and told the gate guards to call the commander..the commander came out and talked to the chief and said ok I will take care of it....

They were probably put on report, confined to quarters, given KP for 30 days and had a little bit of their pay taken out to pay for the damage to the police car.

AND if they had all actually pointed loaded rifles at the Police they would have ended up in the brig...

But dynimagelv's story sounds much better

What is most dismaying to me is: I hope this isn't just another mystery solving serial. So far the show looks a little like CSI: Las Vegas (1960)

I was hoping this show would resemble Crime Story, to my mind one of the great TV series. When I heard "Chicago mob boss trying to take over a LV casino operation" my mind immediately went to the classic, almost Shakespearean battle between Chicago detective Lt. Mike Torello and the young mobster Ray Luca set in the early 1960s. The cars, the clothes, the music ... now that was a show. (Cut far too early by a network fighting the popularity of Moonlighting.)

This new Vegas? Not so much.

Yeah my Dad was First Shirt for a few years and when he went to the town pokey to get his guys, they would rather have stayed there than go back with him to the base as they knew their punishment was be worse....

We lived in Universal City right near Randolph AFB in the late 60's and the highway from San Antonio ended right at the base main gate..
We lived right off the highway and we would ALWAYS see the Airmen being chased by the local cops or Texas troopers and they would fly thru the main gate....Thinking the cops couldn't come in...
The cops flew right in behind them and by the time the Airmen got to the main building the MP's were already waiting for them....

Ever see people picking up trash on the highway... Well these guys got to do that on the flightline... for 60 days....PLUS they had a little of their pay taken for their tickets.....

Default A little off topic but...

To my mind, the most realistic Las Vegas show currently airing is Showtime's "Gigolos." And yes, I know the guys (and the ladies) are mostly actors who live in California.
