While I think it is going to be Intrastate at first, I see it opening up to Interstate very quickly. The DOJ ruling that online poker doesn't pertain to the Wire Act was key.

While I do read about it every chance I get I certainly am no expert. But I do think that something will be available Country wide (unless your State says it is Illegal) within 10-12 months.

I think the big Casino's getting involved is key. Get on thier site, earn points that will equal free hotel rooms, buffets, etc... Will be just like you are at thier Casino.

I do think there will be some regulation issues and finally the Federals will enact some rules to follow.

But I can also see something rediculous like if you win or place in an MTT for over 1200 bucks, you having a Tax Form to print out. Will take some getting used to but Uncle Sam will get MONEY!

There are too many people opposed to it for this to work on a federal level. On top of that, gambling is a state right and the feds have no right to regulate it. That will tie it up in the courts if it ever passes. Then you have the tribes who are guaranteed tax free gaming if commercial gambling is allowed which causes problems in negotiations. By the time the feds get this figured out states that want it will already be doing their own thing.

I disagree. I think the States will start doing it, then the FEDS will find a way to get thier fingers in it. The FED's have already had numerous chances to get something done and seem to be allowing the states the opportunity to go forward.

We will be able to do this across the country fairly soon. As far as the Tribal issues, I agree they will be taken into account and something could even form from having them there. But many people live far enough away from a Tribal run Casino to keep this from playing a predominant role.

Either way, I am fine with getting taxed if it regulated. But I also want the FEDS to remain out of the personal and moral aspect of peoples lives.

I write about this for a living and I am putting together an article about how the tribes are going to affect online poker legislation. The issue with the tribes is that they are guaranteed tax free gaming revenue if any commercial gambling is allowed in the state under the IGRA. If the feds blanket legalize online poker (or any state for that matter) then the tribes have a massive advantage because they will not have to pay any taxes on it. The commercial casino companies are not going to stand for that. Some states with tribal casinos have already run into this problem and legislation stalled. There are also quite a few groups against online poker. Lotteries, governors, conservative groups, even the CEO of Venetian's parent company LVS are against online poker. Having NV, NJ, DE, and probably IL getting online poker going will help the cause, but getting it legalized on the federal level and having it survive court challenges will be a long and difficult task.

Well, I am sure you are more of an expert than I. I form an opinion from all that I've read (Forums, Poker Sites, online poker news 3-5 times a week, etc...). I have probably read your articles as well.

Could you DM me and give me links to your work? Very much appreciated!

According to Nevada Online Poker in 7-10 Months, Regulator Says, the approximate timeline for online cash games going live in Nevada is sometime between December-March.
