Allegiant adding carry-on fee of $35 per flight segment - VEGAS INC

You will now be charged between $15 and $35 for any bag that must go in the overhead compartment. I hope that their reservations plummet after this announcement so it does not fly.

Southwest goes to almost any place I want to go, so I see no reason to fly any other airline. Besides, we have SWAL Rewards and haven't paid for more than a couple of tickets in several years.

Won't be flying Allegiant any time soon. Probably never. It's bad enough flying coach that they make you squish into your seat and are so uncomfortable for a 4 hour flight, but they keep adding fee's on top of fee's on top of fee's. I know what they can do with their extra fee's.

I love SWA rapid rewards. I usually get 2 or 3 free RT flights a year. I'm not too sure how the new program works yet.

We are flying to North cal for my brother in laws wedding. We shopped around. Allegiant had the cheaper flight in price, but after adding up all those baggage charges, then Southwest became cheaper. So we went with Southwest.
Allegiant or any airline is stupid to charge for carry-on.

All airlines will soon follow Allegiant's lead....it's only a matter of time. Look at the price of fuel--that's the perfect excuse/reason.

I fly Spirit all the time, and they pull the same carry on fee. But they allow a small "day pack" style pack for free. So I pack a change of clothes and enough socks and underwear to get me through the trip.

The thing the airlines are doing now is unbundling their pricing, so they can show the cheapest price on the online search engines to lure people into booking, then sock them with unexpected fees that they can't avoid at check in. This is just another example of this.

The DOT made that illegal in January. I guess this gets around it because of two people fly together only one may need to bring a carry on or checked bag. It still violates the spirit of the law.
