Has anyone purchased Allegiant Air tickets directly from their ticket counter at McCarran? Allegiant charges a fee for purchasing online, which adds up for our family of four. I was just wondering if it was worth a drive down to the airport, or if it's a lost cause. According to their website, they only have attendants available two hours before and one hour after a flight for ticket purchase.

Did you try Southwest they have many flights out of Vegas and are often the lowest fares?

I just made reservations and found Delta to be much lower than Southwest. Allegiant now, I would never book. My husband was a pilot and no amount of money saved is worth to me, flying with low time pilots and older equipment.

Allegiant now flies directly from Vegas to my little hometown. A 1 1/2 hour flight is preferable to an 8-hour drive. Through the major airlines, it would cost us $400/ticket, include a connecting flight, and take twice as long. Have read that their safety record is actually pretty good. I've flown in ancient C-5 cargo planes that should have been grounded 20 years ago, so it takes a lot to shake me.

We love allegiant and fly with them usually twice a year. We have to buy 4 tickets now as well, so next time we'll be going in to buy them at the ticket counter to save that stupid fee. Let me know how it works for you!

Allegiant is terrible in every way. I thought the convenience fee was only 1 no matter the number of tickets. They nickel and dime you to death though, it's ridiculous.

Unless you check bags, have to change your flight dates or any of the myriad of fees that you will encounter with Delta.

I like Allegiant, especially for their low-cost non-stop service to outstanding destinations we'd never dream of otherwise (who else can you fly non-stop to Kalispell, Montana for $39 each way?), but sadly, it is only a matter of time until they prang one of their MD-80s into the ground. I'm pretty close friends with quite a few people in their flight/maintenance departments (many of them are ex-National guys), and from what they say, the maintenance operation is an absolute clusterf**k.

I love Allegiant. They have the cheapest & only nonstop flights to my hometown in WI. Also, for just $7.99 each way they allow unlimited changes in flights. (Most uncomfortable seats though!)

At $15 a pop I am sure its worth it to go to the airport, just I have always held my nose and paid the fee because it is inconvenient to go there just to buy a ticket. But they have flights going all day long at LAS so I assume you can buy at almost any time. Its more of an issue at their other airports where there might be flights just a few days a week at one time so your time window is limited.
