He sure did. The skim wasn't enough for him. He had other ideas, including the big heist (was it the Frontier, the Alladin, or the Stardust?, I forget). My best friend's dad was involved with that. There was a meeting and people on the inside were asked if they were in. When Larry said "no", his daughters woke up to find some bullets carefully laid on the cars seats of their locked vehicle in front of his home. After that, he changed his mind. Did some time for it, too. His lawyer was Oscar Goodman who sold him out in favor of the bigger fish.

My uncle's best friend hung himself rather than testify in that case. It was a mess.

Las Vegas was also home to the porn king, Reuben Sturman, who got into some trouble when he failed to kick the required vig back east. Reuben Sturman - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

You know you've been here in Vegas too long when you read a true crime mob novel, see a guy's name and say, " Hey, there's a picture of me sitting on that guy's lap at Disneyland when I was five."

We went to a discussion at the main library where Windy was the main speaker along with other women associated with the Mob, like Al Capone's niece. We also read Windy's book. It's a good read. I Married a Mob Hitman - Las Vegas Sun News

MARRIED TO THE MOB 2 - YouTube

Clip Syndicate Video: I Married A Mob Hitman - Part 3

Here's the book: Amazon.com: Vegas Rag Doll: A True Story of Terror & Survival as a Mob Hitman's Wife eBook: Wendy Mazaros, Joe Schoenmann: Kindle Store

From what I heard he never saw the skim. It went straight back to Chicago, KC, et al. He had his street action.

Different Larry. This one was already married when he got here, and he was a small fish.

Spilotro was a vile SOB, and upset the applecart in many ways. He brought the fed's attention, as was mentioned above. He was behind a couple of car bombings, possibly including Harry Reid's (unsuccessful, obviously) and he broke the rules in general.

Vegas was a cash cow back then and everyone wanted to keep the peace.

I'd say more, but some of those people are still around.

The Mob Experience at Tropicana was interesting as well. Kind of cheesy in the interactive parts, but the displays at the end are great!

He was from Miami...as was the owner of the Concession.

I got to know the new guy really well and we formed a bond of sorts cause he started dating my x-girlfriend.

One day after work we went out for a beer and I asked him...."Elmer, ya know, you dont know CRAP about photography....WHAT DO YOU DO for a living."

Elmer says....."ya really wanna know?" I said YES I do.......Elmer said "I kill people, you want another beer?"

Two weeks later, Elmer came in and said...."I gotta go outta town for a couple of days.....if anyone asks.....we went bowling everynight after work."

3 days later I answered the phone at work....it was Elmer....didnt say HI kiss my grits or anything....just said "Hi, this is Elmer, NO ONE will ask." and hung up....

Would that happen to be a Mr. Elmer Burke?

Have you heard anything about a deal the Feds made with the syndicate where the Feds told them that they could have Las Vegas as long as they stayed out of Washington, D.C. and Baltimore?
