Yep....and the penalty for violating them was harsh....

The FIRST Casino holdup in Las Vegas was the El Cortez....3 guys walked in, stuck guns in the faces of the cage crew....and walked out with a reallllly large amount of money....they totally disappeared without a trace....FBI didnt even hav a lead on them.....

Da Boyz, put the word out....."We get out $$ back, you get to live...we dont, you dont anmd it will be SLOWWW and painfull."

FBI In Fresno got a call out of the blue...."You want the guys that did the El Cortez job, go to XXXXX motel unit XX.

The kicked in the door, In the room were the 3 guys, seated at the kitchen table. MONEY piled in the middle of the table with the guns on top of the $$$.

It was a longgg time before anyone hit another Casino.....they had a "Way with words."

Was there ever a "Vegas" mafia? There was Chicago mafia, NY mafia, maybe even LA mafia, but noting in Vegas was home grown.

exactly, in that any outfit could come here and there would be NO activity outside of the casino action....which is why all of the mob....killings had to be done elsewhere...Beverly Hills waa a good place for Buggsy....Ill. was good for the spilotros

Al Bramlet was a local boy trying to hold up ALL the outfits so he got planted out on the road to pahrump

Over the course of the past couple of years I have really become interested in the history of Las Vegas ESPECIALLY the mob era.
Think about how many times on this board we read questions (in fact I think I've posted it before) along the lines of "Is xyz a SAFE neighborhood?" In the modern day Vegas there are some people who don't feel safe. My impressions, both from what I've read previously and what I've read in this thread, are that the only people who didn't feel safe in the mob era was the people dumb enough to cross them.
I personally can not justify what the mob did at anypoint in their existence. I'm usually pretty black & white when it comes to murder. With that said I remember reading a quote that an old actress once said (can't remember off the top of my head who it was, actually it may have been on that Vegas Mafia doc as I've seen it a couple of times) "No one died who wasn't supposed to."
Here in the Charlotte area I hear all the time about innocent bystander being shot accidentally during a drive by, a gang shoot out, a botched robbery, what have you. That type of stuff did not happen in the mob era.
Were most of them killers? Yes. But they were calculating and they didn't make mistakes. If you didn't try to cross them you would be treated very well from what I understand.
IMO Corporate America is far more ruthless than the mafia ever was.

Great stories on here and thanks to Buzz and dynimagelv for their input and to Trash Can for bumping the thread.

Any other stories would be much appreciated.

Also, and I hope that this isn't considered hijacking the thread, have you guys (specifically Buzz & Dynimagelv) ever been to the Mob Museum and is it worth the price of admission? Heading to LV in a week and have been on the fence about this...
