Think of all the money that could have been saved not adding another straw to Lake Mead.

The power company didn't have a reason and they're still trying.

Even so, I think the traffic here is less congested than other metropolitan areas and far less congested than other spread-out-suburbias such as the SF Bay Area. We seem to get our unfair share of Federal dollars for road construction & improvement. All roads & sidestreets in Silicon Valley, for example, are super-saturated from about 5:30am to 10:00 and again from 3:30-7:30ish. You'd think you were driving on the Strip. Las Vegas is a breeze by comparison.

milehighdesert,

How much you enjoy it here will, in some part, be a function of your own personal situation: married vs. single, kids vs. no kids, do you enjoy live entertainment or do you prefer film noir in alternative movie houses, do you want to live in a low-maintenance condo/apartment or do you want to live in a single family home, are you healthy or do you frequently need to visit doctors, etc etc.

For the record Denver averages about 15 inches of rain a year, about the same as LA. So it is borderline desert. Just not right now, so far this month I think there have been maybe 5 days without rain.

Default Thanks Buzz

Thanks for the history lesson Buzz. Its really great to hear these kinds of things about Las Vegas. Love it! I just want to say (Jerseygirl08), I am not a snobbish northeastern person, far from it. So please don't look at my name and think that is the case. OKAY?? I actually reside north of Orlando - had to get out of the NE away from high taxes, snow, etc. However, like milehighdesert, I am not happy here. Don't like the humidity at all.

I have taken all the advice given on this board and appreciate it greatly. I will not be moving to LV without that job in hand. I'm a nurse so I should be able to accomplish that task with time.

Thanks to all of you living in LV and sharing your positive knowledge with the rest of us!!
