I know this is a tough question but what are the income ranges for the most part in Las Vegas? I do plan to make a visit to Vegas before I move there but I just to get a general idea. I'm in financial services sales so I'm wondering what income ranges will be available...

According to the Nevada Department of Employment, Training, and Rehabilitation figures, in 2009 the statewide average wage was $41,464.

You'll get a very wide range of incomes in a city like Las Vegas. The Unemployment Rate is very high, but there are plenty of wealthy communities.

I have a friend who is a Doorman at a Hotel and I was absolutely flabbergasted when he told me how much cash he makes. Just doesn't seem right somehow...

The salary range in Nevada is from 0 to ∞. I would imagine that in financial services sales you'd be on a commission, and if you are talking about personal financial services for rich people, it's probably unlimited what you could make. If you're talking about a bank call center, there are thousands of people doing that and making very good livings.

Thanks..When relocating in the beginning I will mostly concentrate on life and Senior products then to investments so I was wondering if there were many upper income communities.

Senior products are ok, not quite the high percentage of seniors in the population there used to be 15 years ago. Life products are a little tougher since the market is heavily stressed and obviously people will forgo life when they are scraping by or even more so when they have no job and hence no income to replace. Biggest problem you'll find is the insurance industry is hiring like crazy in Vegas people who got laid off in the last few years and putting them on full commission. There are 3 or 4 companies relatively new to Nevada advertising up a storm on Monster and the like and recruiters are hounding anyone posting a resume there. So while you are a professional and probably can do a better job than a newbie when meeting a client, there are so many newbies out either getting some sales or souring the market on insurance in general, especially life products. Some of these new guys are doing what they are taught, which is to scare the daylights out of people and then turn into a used car salesmen in pushing the worst product possible with the highest commission.

Vegas would be a tough market right now. Sort of like selling freezers to Eskimos.

Good idea, although it would be tough to sell without having your feet on the ground a lot and knowing people in the area. People are quite suspicious of out of towners since people are coming and going all the time. I got a non-resident license to serve my network which I gained in 12 years of living there. None of my new referrals seem to care I don't live in the area anymore, but I don't know how I'd get any referrals without having the existing network and still making regular trips back to keep up.
