What are the requirements for this? I am just curious due to me just having a divorce I have some stuff that may stop me. I currently owe about $3,000 back child support, bench warrant in MI for a trial on the child support I was unaware of and out of the state of the time, and I am going to be filling bankruptcy soon due my my ex wife having our old house foreclosed so my credit is destroyed. But before this nightmare I used to work at a Tribal Casino in Michigan as a slot tech and had a gaming license there and a federal background check. That is till this happened and I had to move back to Illinois. Just was hoping none of this will stop me getting a license there and getting my life back in order in Vegas.

Child support payments are always a fatal defact in Nevada. I know of no exceptions.

Listen, I feel for you. I'm the same boat. I owed child support but I just paid it off, so i'm hoping that now I can get my license too. I called Nevada gaming and asked them what would hold me back and they said it would all depend on what your charges were. You might get lucky and get thourgh but you may have to pay off that child support first. Good luck man.

Is there anyway around this? I have been always been on time till I became unemployed. The amount I am behind is not a large sum $3000 or so which I plan to catch up on when I move there. Though here in the location I am in now the only jobs are minimum wage and part time. This is why I am moving to Vegas since I could make so much more getting back into the casino industry.

Jared,
If I were you, move there anyway. Get two jobs that take up about 14-16 hours a day and get that paid off. A friend of mine went through the same thing and stayed in a similar area to where you are now, but finally moved. 8 years of not being able to get anything going is difficult to watch. You can only talk to him so much, before it falls on deaf ears.
Move to Vegas, work two jobs (one maybe at an apartment complex to help with rent), get it paid off and live your dream. Best of luck

Is it just the child support payment that would hold you back from gaming license or could it be the warrantand bad credit as well?

The child support thing is built into virtually every licensing statute in the State of Nevada. Credit and warrants are more subjective and negotiable.

Nevada is generally not terribly tough on such things...except child support.

Default Gaming License

And as such more states should be as tough as Nevada on Child Support Responsibilities. I have compassion to the point everyone deserves a second chance in life ,but only after they meet their children's needs, so their can have a 1st chance of survial...

I have no problem with them being tough but how is this benefiting the children though? This license allows to people get jobs in the casino industry not to shirk there responsibilities as a parent.
