We visited over Christmas years ago before I moved here, and my parents took us to the Tournament of Kings dinner show at the Excalibur. It was a great time and I think the kids would enjoy that. Would highly recommend the Ethel M Chocolate Factory tour, probably in conjunction with Hoover Dam (unless you rent a car). The cactus garden outside is lit up every evening until 10pm and it's absolutely beautiful! I'm fortunate to live around the corner now from it and have been there twice already. As another posted mentioned, depending on the ages of your kids, take them to the Primm outlet mall. There are a couple rides there and the outlet mall has some really good deals. You'd have to rent a car to get there, unless they have a shuttle from one of the hotels on the strip, which you can get information from your hotel's concierge desk.

The Springs Preserve Holiday Spectacular could be fun. Lights display, entertainment, photos with Santa, train and "reindeer" (pony) rides for the kids. It's also not too far from the Strip, and can be reached by bus.

Springs Preserve - Official Web Site

There is also a children's museum in Las Vegas, that is fun for kids, younger ones. Teens would like to go to Primm.

It is fun to go out to Hoover Dam, in Boulder City. Stop and get rootbeer floats on the way, at A&W Rootbeer. Or on the way back home.

Hiking at Red Rock Canyon is nice this time of year. Are you going to do any side trips? Grand Canyon is nice this time of year, but it is a drive to get there. You can always get a trip on a plane to fly over it. Another side trip is to go to Oatman, AZ, there are tame donkeys all over the town, that you can feed.

Las Vegas has a zoo, but it is lame, go to the secret garden at Mirage.

Aquarium at Bellagio.

As far as "Christmasy" things to do:

We like the Gift of Lights........but it's been moved this year from Sunset Park to the Motor Speedway.

Gift of Lights sponsored by US Bank

We also like The Magical Forest

Opportunity Village is Las Vegas' Favorite Charity (http://www.opportunityvillage.org/magical_forest.php - broken link)

If you are up for a trip to Mt. Charelston, we usually do a sledding trip with the kids, a horse-drawn sleigh ride, and dinner at the lodge.........

Also they light up the demonstration gardens at The Ethel M chocolate factory. We go every year, it's pretty cool. Plus, after that go on a tour of the factory and get a free chocolate!

It's propably not really ''christmassy'', but I passed the go kart tracks on N Rainbow a few times,
and that seemed to be fun for kids too.
I always saw alot of kids down there anyway.

I don't think anyone mentioned The Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay. It's not the world's largest aquarium, but it's a nice one.

There are several things to do near the MGM, like the M & M Store, the Coca Cola Store, the climbing wall, Gameworks, etc.

How about a helicopter or airplane ride to the Grand Canyon, Grand Canyon's Top Tours For Your Grand Canyon Vacation

or a Lake Mead cruise? Lake Mead Cruises offers a variety of sightseeing and meal cruises on Lake Mead aboard our delightful paddlewheel vessels.

If you're up for a litte driving, it's a great time to see Death Valley http://www.lasvegasgrandcanyontour.c...FQYHbAodICT6mQ

and the China Ranch Date Farm is nice too. http://www.chinaranch.com/
