OK, I get it. Nothing is a good as it was back home. It never is. But then why did we ever leave such a perfect place? Go figure.

No more recommendations from me to people who would complain about being hung with a new rope anyway.

Okay, Okay, I can't let my millions of supporters down.

Did I tell y'all about this place we were introduced to while on a recent vacation in Seattle? I know, I know, this ain't Seattle, but we were just blown away, and I know y'all go to Seattle every chance you get...probably. My buddy who is Italian, and still has some relatives in the old country, told us he was taking us to the best Italian restaurant on the west coast ...and it's run by a Chinese family. Yep. You read it right.

When people asked them about being Chinese and starting an Italian restaurant, they replied, Perché No, which means "Why Not?"

Skisickie, I tried the jumbo ravioli as a friend ordered and it too was nothing to write home about. About 5 super large squares with a marinara sauce with cream in it. The best thing any of us had was the margerita pizza.

Buzz, I don't think it's about where one lived before. I came from a little dink water town in Ohio and I'm excited as all get out about the great chefs out here and all the choices. But, that said, I'm also a gourmet cook and to the point my daughter took what I taught her growing up and now has a very sucessful gourmet catering business. I'm thinking you and your wife must not cook much and I say that because it's a piece of cake to make a good linguini with clam sauce; cook fresh clams in a pot with lots of garlic, strain, reduce broth, add white wine, more garlic, butter and some hot pepper and oregano while the linguini cooks to el dente and you have it. Ten minutes max and about $8 for two.

You know what they say about making assumptions. Ass u me, etc.? But read through all the posts on this forum and you'll see how many people brag about their hometown food being the best ─ everyone except those from Ohio, that is. Being from your neighbor state of West Virginia, where good food stops this side of the Ohio River, I understand the reason for this phenom.

As to your assumption (which was just an excuse to brag about your cooking skills, I assume): we can't eat out every night ─ of course we cook. My wife makes her own version of linguine and claims and it is fantastic. She also makes the best ravioli I've ever had. Way better than any restaurant I've ever tried. For years I thought she got the recipe from a cookbook published by the ladies of the once largest Italian Heritage Festival in the country ─ Clarksburg, WV, my hometown. Turns out she got it from a product label. Go figure.

Interesting choice for a Las Vegas restaurant.
