Fries and beans were good as well and it's pretty cheap. Seems like they always had a daily special for $5 or something.
RJ's is awesome. The owners are a fantastic couple, and they catered my wedding reception in January, which was down the street at the Mission Theatre...so much amazing food. I posted a bit about it back on the first page.

I lived in Mission in 1970ish when my dad and stepmom got married and combined households. We lived in Shawnee and she lived in Mission. Our house in Shawnee was bigger, so I'm not sure why we ended up in Mission - but I sometimes drive by the house where we lived in Mission. Still looks exactly the same. I also drive by where we lived in Shawnee, but the house we lived in is no longer there. Out of three original houses on the property, one is still there. It looks the same too. It's a weird feeling to look at houses that are so familiar and where you have so many memories, and most of the people who shared those memories are no longer living.

I'm sure RJ's must have been there when I lived in Mission, but I was 13 or so and I don't remember it. I know people now who are affiliated with the restaurant, but I have never eaten there personally.

RJ's Bob-Be-Que Shack - Mission, Kansas
Well, I was long gone by then! We lived in Wiedenmann Ridge subdivision. Our back yard fence was the dividing line between Mission and Roeland Park. That was before Walmart, Quik Trip, McDonald's, Taco Bell, Price Chopper, Lowe's, etc. There was the library and a bank and a drug store and a few other stores. Very different from what it has become now.

My husband grew up in Mission, though he's probably somewhat younger than you. Lived most of his life on and/or near Woodson Rd.
