I copied the below from Wikipedia. When I first began driving in the fall of 1957, I ventured east into the unknown and the names of these towns "slayed" me. I still get a chuckle out it:

"Wellington lies just a few miles east of Napoleon, Missouri; the two towns having been named after the commanders at the Battle of Waterloo. About halfway between the two towns lies a small, unincorporated crossroads called 'Waterloo'.
"

Napoleon is about 21 miles east of Independence Square on Missouri 224. Waterloo is two miles further and then Napoleon is another two miles. At the time I "discovered" these three places, US Highway 24 went through each of them but now the highway runs about one mile south of each.

The Examiner is reporting that William Chrisman High School has been named the "Kindest School" in the Kansas Area.

Has something to do with Synergy Services 2013 Kindest Kansas Citian Awards.

Official presentation to be conducted at the end of April.

Has to be. Might also be because of some of the future nurses that graduated from WCHS, including one that lived on Dickinson Road.

Okay boys and girls, recess is over! Time to get back to your history lesson with a pop quiz.

Question 1. What well known structure is burning in this photo from the early 1970s?

Question 2. What building is in the background?

AAmtrak station burning?

Union station in the background? Only a guess. I'll let the experts take over.

Last edited by adams_aj; 04-05-2013 at 05:13 PM.. Reason: added background building guess.

Thanks for trying. I will tell you that it is the Independence Fire Department fighting the fire.

More likely an example of Sir Isaac's third law re: an "equal and opposite reaction"
