I am planning to do my resume professionaly. I have an OK resume and I have a good job but in the future I like to get in to one of the local hospitals here which is really hard to get in. I called careerbuiler.com and they want 229$ for a professional resume. I am a case specialist (assistant to the nurse)handeling workers comp claims. Even with the OK resume before my present job I had 3 interviews for 3 different positions at this hospital and they called me back for 2nd interviews....unfortunatelly they gave the postition to an internal candidate. I would like to have some opinions about if I should spend that much money on a resume or just go on line and find someonelse locally who charges less. Thank you.

That's a lot of money. Can't you write and design your own resume? Maybe you could get a friend to help? There's plenty of examples online to guide you. I hate to see anyone throw money away these days.
You can use one of the resume templates on Microsoft Word to get you going. And you can get nice resume paper at Staples. Just make sure that you check and recheck your spelling and try to get everything onto one page!
I wouldn't spend that much for a resume when it sounds like the one you've got is getting you interviews. You are losing jobs to internal candidates, that has nothing to do with your resume. Every company I've ever worked for gives internal candidates priority for open positions. As long as you keep getting interviews, I'd leave your resume alone.

The answer is NO. That's the most ridiculous price I ever heard of in my life for resume assistance.
Thank you for your replies. I do have a decent resume but when I moved back from Florida to Pennsylvania I had 3 jobs in a short period of time. I had to do it in order for me to start all over again and to get to where I am at right now. I don't know how or where in the resume I should explain this. People say don't explain it until the interview...but what if this is the reason I wouldn't get an interview, I rather explain it before so I can still get an interview. What do you think?
If you are looking to change the format use above. If you are looking to change the content that's a whole different matter. Hopefully you have people in your network who understand what a resume should look like (it changes per job segment) but if not then you may want to consider "using" a staffing agency.
When I say "use" them I mean see if you can get some free resume advice from them by applying and asking for feedback. The good ones consult with their talent and make their resumes read better, sell the talent and look better.

If you really feel the need to explain it, do so in the cover letter.

I have other "stuff" included in my cover letter, how should I start to explain, how should I word it? I mean how should I jump from one subject to another one?
