I have little chances to get hired. Others think the same. Is that just luck what you need to get hired and be scared to death that you are to be replaced any moment you screw up at work?
I guarantee if you don't bother applying for the same position as a hundred other people, there is less of a chance that you are hired than if you did apply.

It's a negatively self-defeating attitude which is going to shine through when you apply for a job. On what do you base the comment, "others think the same" and are those "others" friends/family who are referring to your particular situation or are you just throwing that out as a general comment expressed by people around you referring to their own difficulties in finding employment?
2-29-2012 It's only natural that you would raise a question and those long lines can be somewhat intimidating. However, YOU might have exactly the qualifications or the exact experience that they are looking for for their position and you will never know unless you apply. They could also keep your application on file for future job openings. Applying for jobs is somewhat discouraging, but please try to maintain a positive attitude--if you don't get a job today, you might get one tomorrow--you just have to endure and keep on going.

Where the luck comes in is when the other applicants are not as good a fit as you. Even if most of the time you are 3rd or 4th best out of 120, and don't get the job, that one time that you chose not to apply you
there may not have been anyone better. Eventually, as all the people getting jobs are eliminated from the competition your opportunity to be
the best is improved.
hnsq, Never heard that quote, but thanks. Its awesome.
It's been said in many different ways over many, many years. And is ignored as much today as many other "ancient" but sage truisms have been sloughed off over many years.
Great quote indeed... heard it a few years back and it's so true.
