Ok, here I am again. The same company that I asked about regarding salary history has another position open that I am qualified for. What's the best way to go about the fact that i literally just applied for another position there in the cover letter? Should I come up with something completely different, or stick with the similar information? Should I say that if i'm not right for the other position i applied for, consider me for this one?
I sent the other application snail mail. I was thinking about applying for this one online to see if i hear anything about either one.
Apply for both, change your cover letter if the jobs are very different... let them figure it out...if iti is a big company, they may not realize you have applied for two jobs.
At some law firms, differnt hiring managers do their own hiring.
if you get called to interview for both,,,,you would be damned lucky, and they still haven't figured it out yet, then bring it their attention...
The only time I've seen when there might be an issue is if the position was in the same group/department, but with a different manager. The concern here is that if both managers are interested, they don't want any conflicts between the two managers to make an offer for you.
I had a similar situation, and I called the HR person I was working with and they were fine with me applying for both roles. However, they said they would wait to see how my candidacy with the first role went before they proceeded with bringing me in to interview for the second role, and they're reasoning was what I mentioned above.
I see what you mean. In my case, one is a PR role and the other is a customer service role. I could do either one, and I'm basically trying to break into that field, which is why I'm applying to more than one job there.
I think I might just send the same thing, switch a few things around, and add just a different resume (I sent a more "functional" resume for the PR one, this one could use a general "here's the jobs i've had" one).

Thanks for the tips guys.
Under current market situation, I would not worry about applying to as many jobs at the same company as you think you can be a good fit.
If you get interviews, I would not mention about several applications / interviews until you are invited for at least 2nd round.
If you see that they are interested in you or ask you about other opportunities/stages, you can tell them the truth.
I would not worry about the conflict for two managers: believe me they will figure out what to do with you and where to put you..again if you fit..
