The poor resale is one thing. But once cars get discontinued by the manufacturer, then the replacement parts situation deteriorates. I've gone through that with a couple of other cars, and it's no fun. Secondly, in the case of the Jag engines, the cooling system has "coolant pipes", rather than traditional rubber hoses. These "pipes", up to 2018, were made out of two plastic "halves" that are bonded together, and over time, the bond breaks down, and leaks begin. The parts/labor to replace them runs around $16-1800.
I did some research/shopping around, and got a decent price for both our Jags, and I no longer deal with depreciation/potential breakdowns/impossible to find parts....
