The dealer network in the US is so small, and they've never been very reliable. And then factor in the massive depreciation, I can't see why anyone would buy one.
I agree, if you're referring to the 2000 and later S-Types, which later morphed into the XE and XF; and/or the 2010 and later XJs. The earlier XJs, while very smooth riding and plush, drove like trucks. My wife had a 2001 XJ8, so I'm familiar with them. Then she bought a 2009 XF, followed by a 2012 XJ-L, and while they road very smoothly, the chassis engineers did their homework, and they also handled like sports cars.
Well, we divested ourselves of the Jag sedan, a few days ago, and were sad to see it leave. We really loved that car, but with Jaguar's future looking bleak, we didn't want to be "stuck" with it. We will miss it, however. Within the next week, or so, our Jag SUV most likely will be gone, too. And that one, too, will be missed....

Jaguar's sales in Europe and the US are down by 2/3rds over the last five years or so. That's what happens when you stop investing. Most of the stuff was from 2015 so going on 10 years old. The models anyone cares about (F-type, XJ) are even older. XJ was killed off years ago.

I understand what you're saying, but I can't agree, 100%, as over the years, we owned 5 Jags, and liked every one of them. However, what I think helped to kill them off was a lack of advertising.

Why? Resale has always been dismal so if you like it you really had nothing to lose keeping it.
When Saab folded, the cult came out and the resale didn't get hurt for the 900s/9000s that were in good shape.

Nah........the poor resale = terrible leases. If you can't lease them competitively with BMW/Mercedes/Audi you won't get inventory moving.
