I dont hate cruise ships, but the idea of using them as floating hotels for an event like the super bowl is absolutely laughable...

When will Jacksonville Host another Superbowl?
Hopefully never, as all it did was mess up traffic and pack-up the good restaurants with yankees!

You mean Los Angeles...

That has a nice ring to it: "Los Angeles Jaguars"

What will they do with the gator bowl after that? Pile in the homeless and let them live there?

Default We should aim higher than a football game

If people want to see Jacksonville join the ranks of major league cities, we should aim higher than just trying to attract a Superbowl.

How about building a world-class convention center, and trying to get conventions with doctors, engineers, or scientists visiting our city.

Or, building a walkable, liveable downtown, that people want to visit. We're not Savannah or St. Augustine, but there is a lot of rich history here, if we want to promote it.

Why spend our efforts on just attracting rowdy and noisy sports-fans? Sporting events tie up traffic, leave lots of litter, and are too infrequent to generate much revenue for businesses. Besides, most people drive to the stadium and miss all the shops and restaurants of downtown.

We should try to make Jacksonville a unique destination, and stop trying to be like other cities.

Unfortunately downtown Jacksonville has been trying for better than 30 years to find itself....maybe one day as you say Jacksonville will build itself under it's own design instead of emulating others.
