You'd be amazed at what's available on the internet! I was looking for a blowup that had a penguin and a palm tree, and a quick google search gave me a ton of hits. Blowups are such a fad that many different ones have been created. It's a hoot!

Yup - "hoot" -- I also am known to use the word "groovy" on occasion :-)

Boat Parade and Fireworks -- I don't know the official route, but the boats hug the eastern shore of the St Johns (the Landing side) from about Liberty Street to just beyond the Acosta Bridge where they make a u-turn and hug the west shore (Riverwalk side). The judges' stand and the announcer are at the Landing, so in my opinion standing anywhere in that vicinity (between the Main St Bridge and the Acosta) is the prime location to see, hear, and then view the awesome fireworks afterwards. Being between the two bridges mean you'll see the 'waterfalls' of fireworks off the bridges as well as the displays shot high from the three barges on the river.

If one doesn't mind walking a few blocks, I'd recommend free on-street parking in the Duval St. area -- not only is it free, but it's also less congested once the show is over and everyone is trying to leave at the same time.

lol I know, thanks for reminding me!! However, I get confused sometimes since downtown it's Northbank and Southbank, and yet just up river (or south of downtown) in the Orange Park area it's East of the river and West of the river. Silly St Johns River for being so bendy as well as flowing in the "wrong" direction.

I don't think there's a downtown Jax Christmas parade - other nearby towns have them (such as Green Cove Springs on December 6th for example).

The Gator Bowl Parade (and all the other Bowl events and New Year's celebrations) on December 31st is the only parade I know of in downtown during the holiday season.
