I will be in JAX one day next week. Flying in early in the AM, meeting on north side of town in the morning, then traveling over to Ponte Vedra in the afternoon. Heading back to the airport early evening.

I am a Florida native, but I haven't spent much time in JAX. Any casual places where I could pick up lunch, preferably seafood, keeping in mind that I will be either northside, Ponte Vedra, or in between? Doesn't need to be a high-end place; I will be dressed business casual and dining solo.

Thanks in advance!

I like Singletons in Mayport, although it as most assuredly not high end. I've heard good things about Palm Valley Fish Camptoo.

I have two recommendations, both at the beach.

1. Seafood Kitchen
31 Royal Palms Dr
Atlantic Beach, FL 32233
(904) 241-8470

2. Safe Harbour Seafood Market & Restaurant
4378 Ocean St
Ste 3
Jacksonville, FL 32233

I haven't been to this place yet but I have heard good things about it. It too is at the beach.

I second Singletons.......a true hidden gem is Chowder Teds which is little known to all but the locals.

On Saturdays a line starts before it opens and when the doors do open it is at capacity in ten minutes. Open until 7 PM weekdays.

Can't say enough good about it....... The reviews say it all. So many have driven by for years never noticing its existence!

I second the Palm Valley Fish Camp suggestion. Fresh, delicious creative food in a casual setting on the IntraCoastal.
Wherever you end up, I hope you have a memorable lunch.

Singletons is good--if you only want fried seafood. It's not much to look at but it's good.

Safe Harbour is just up the road from Singletons (both in Mayport) and is very good.

Thanks for the advice ... I will likely go with the Palm Valley Fish Camp since it will not be too far from my afternoon meeting, but I'll see how that morning goes in case I'm closer to any of the others.

I agree with the above suggestions but IMO Mayport is a little out of the way and if you go to Chowder Ted's it is cash only. Salt Life is OK.

If you are in between I would go to North Beach Fish Camp in Neptune Beach. It is a great lunch spot and about 1 block from the beach. It is on the corner of Atlantic Blvd and 1st street. If it is nice you can sit outside. Opened up about 6 months ago.

A little pricey but worth it, esp if it is on your company. I went there last night with two other couples for dinner, excellent.
