Our association has an eight-section irrigation system with archaic timers.

Can anyone DM me with a recommendation on a company that installs new timers for smaller developments?

Default Off Topic Somewhat

I bike around the burbs to escape the heat of the day. I have noticed that the timed sprinkler systems in the yards are timed to run at dawn.

But I have read that lawns should be watered during hot spells during the hottest part of the day to prevent the heat from destroying vegetation, which once cooked, doesn't re-new easily.

Which time is best?

I have always heard that the heat of the day if worse, because the water droplets magnify the sun and actually make it hotter, even though it's wet. I'm hardly the expert, though, so I absolve myself of all responsibility of that approach fails.

We water ours starting at 4 AM, and it does 45 minutes in each zone. That's twice a week. We also just added a third day per week for only 20 minutes per zone, because it's new sod and it was struggling hard.

I know our builder used Leach to install the system, if the OP just needs somewhere to start.

Never, ever run your sprinklers during the day, it makes it worse and it simply evaporates as it magnifies the sun scorching your lawn. I'm always baffled when I see sprinklers cranking during the day, it does more harm than good. It's like washing your car in direct hot sunlight, it makes no sense.

Very early morning is the best time.
