there is a Metro Diner in Julington Creek now as well. First Watch is pretty much a Denny's , or a Little Black Sambos( if anyone actually remembers that chain they are officially old...I guess I am in that club now)

Thanks I had no idea Metro opened up in Mandarin, or maybe I just forgot, as I am so old I remember Sambo's Restaurant but not the ''little black'' part in their name.(just in Helen Bannerman's old story though)

Your right...it was never called "little black" sambo's .......although the story was prominently displayed at every restaurant.

Here is a cool link with pictures of many of the old Sambo's restaurants. The attention to detail with the 60's/70's architectural style is amazing http://sambosphotos.com/

Cool link, its funny there used to be 3-4 Sambos here in town back in the 60's and 70's(I remember there was one on Blanding one on Beach and one on Main St, maybe more?) now theres none, but Miami's got what like 8 of them. (HMMMM must be a Cuban hotspot thing...LOL)

Tried First Watch this morning...not too impressed. The service was just OK and my husband's food didn't come until we were almost done eating ours. The waitress did let us know she took his meal off the check because of the delay, which was nice, but the food was average.

I think we'll stick with Beach Diner in the future.
