Well, our boy is going to High school next year. The questions I have are for anyone familiar with the service hours needed for Graduation and Bright Futures program. St Johns County
We called the school and they said you need 75 service hrs for graduation(that don't seem like much to me over four years)
And do these hours also count for Bright Futures?

We missed on the Florida pre paid college program since we had to wait one year to declare we were residents. Ofcourse after that year the prepaid plan increased 300%. Now we are not sure how to swing it.

Thanks for any advice or words.

I have two kids in high school in St. Johns County. According to my kids' counselors, right now you do not need community service hours for graduation. You do need them for some of the Bright Futures scholarships.

Both of their counselors said that needing service hours for graduation is a common myth. I would double check with your school. I suppose it's possible that both of the counselors were wrong. But it doesn't seem likely.

Thanks for that update.
It is tough to get the right story sometimes. There is so much involved rather than just go to class do your work and get grades.

I appreciate the feedback

Call and double check with the school Chris. The graduation requirements seem to change every couple of years. But last time I talked with the counselors, they didn't have to have service hours to graduate.

We are really happy with the high school. We transferred here last year from Northern Virginia/DC. I still don't completely understand how the Bright Futures thing works.

My kids are at Creekside High School. Creekside High School - Welcome

Go to the website and look at the graduation requirements. I think it's easier to navigate than the district website.

Excellent! Let me know if you have questions specific to Creekside. We absolutely love it! And my kids transferred here from one of the best school systems in the country...Fairfax County, Virginia.

Welcome to the area!
