We are moving with our almost 4 year old daughter and are looking for a great school district for her to attend. I will also consider private school if necissary. I grew uo in Public school so I am a strong believer in go Public but for my daughter... as you parents know, I'll do anything.
I am originally fron South Jersey and have lived in Wilmington NC for the past 3 years. We moved to our neighborhood because of the school and now we have to leave for my Hubby's job. The school here had a math score of 92% and reading of 82%. Is there anything in the Jax area or surroiunding that I am going to find that? Please help me out, I have been to Jax once and it was for the downtown only.
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

There are a lot of great school districts here. But since the Jacksonville area is so huge, your best first step is to determine a "circle" around your husband's place of work, with a radius equalling the length of his desired commute. Then, the second step, is to start looking at houses/schools within the "circle".

Thus, in order for us to give suggestions, we need to know a little bit more (work location, type of neighborhood you prefer, distance to beach, etc. etc.)

Wow, pointing out a typo (or even an actual mistake in the language), instead of helping someone new to the area, how witty and cool. And assuming, hypothetically, that the mom uses improper english, that means that she would not want her child to get the best schooling possible, right? Sheesh.

Where will your place of employment be? That will help in you determining where you need to live.

Outside of Duval County the three main areas which people live in for the better schools are Clay County (in the Fleming Island area), Northwest St. Johns County (Bartram and Creekside High schools) and Northeast St. Johns County (Ponte Vedra and Nocatee).

Someone else with better knowledge about Duval County schools should be able to give you info on that area. My experience is with NW St. Johns County.

If great schools at all grade levels is important, I'd focus on St Johns County. Some will disagree, but generally speaking, they're some of the best in the area. Comparable to the scores you mentioned. Check out greatschools.com for test scores.

Check out the neighborhoods of 210...St Johns Forest, St Johns Golf and Country Club, South Hampton.

We just moved to Nocatee and we love it here so far. Some of the best schools in the county, very family friendly, really close to the beach. Some people feel like it's a little remote, but no more than the 210 'hoods, in my opinion (as far as major shopping/restaurants go).

Good luck!

St. Johns County Schools are highly rated. I'd look there first.
