I took a devience class in college the text was published in Canada. A lot of the studies were done in Canadian cities. One study was looking at the rising violent crime rates in Calgary. When they dug into it they found it was the 24 new patrol cars and police they put on the force the previous year. Violent crime rates were stable they were just catching more of these criminals because they were throwing more resources at the problem. Who knows what the real crime rates are in Calgary or Indy for that matter

Our news channels sure wont help get us the info. They are a disaster.

It is like they are all afraid to show the underbelly of Indy so people will really know what to do when and where.

If you ask the local police, they will give you good info. Go to their monthly community meetings armed with specific questions. Let them even know ahead of time what you are interested in. One problem is that the areas patrolled by East, North, etc. are huge. Give them focused questions. There are also community liason police. Ask for local meetings if you are having local issues. Get involved.

If they provide useful information people can actually use, they won't tune in. People will tune in to see who shot who though. Playing to emotions instead of being useful is what the Indy media does best.

Police are always after the fact. You want to reduce crime, increase opportunity for those areas. No jobs, substandard conditions, poverty, hunger leads to crime as people will do what they have to do.

Go without a gun I don't care. I prefer to fight back as opposed to become a victim.

You can't rely on the police to be everywhere at once, impossible.

Without Americans taking up arms, we would be drinking tea every day.

Problem is most of the criminals don't want jobs, too much work.

Do you want someone convicted of robbery, rape, murder, burglary working at your company. Even if they did want to work, they have made choices which limit who will hire, can't blame the employer. Why would you want to put your business at risk to being victimized.

Unless you are HR you don't know what someone has done unless they tell you. Btw, businesses are victimized more by their law abiding employees more often than criminals.

Are we talking about overthrowing a tyrannical government or preventing inner-city crime? Or are those two issues somehow related and I'm just not understanding your logic?
