Three gunmen who fled after one of the Saturday night attacks in Tijuana were chased and intercepted by authorities, said Juan Guillen, director of the state police force. They had seven rifles, several chargers for AK-47s and R-15 rifles, bulletproof vests, helmets and masks, he said.

He identified the three as Jose Ramon Garcia, 33; Saul Arnoldo Jacobi, 30; and Roberto Castañeda, 42. The latter was a state police investigator, Guillen said.

Guillen said the three gunmen confessed to being part of a cell run by Filiberto Parra Ramos, nicknamed “La Perra,” who works for a cell led by Teodoreo Garcia Simental, known as “El Teo.”

Authorities believe Garcia Simental is one of the drug lords fighting for control of the lucrative border region.

Those battles have pushed the death toll in Tijuana to an unprecedented 726 killings this year.

Yep no doubt about it we don't need to increase border security, build a fence or use our military to patrol the boarder.

These are industrious criminals who will commit the most heinous of crimes for a dollar. We need a Berlin style wall, yesterday.

Why don't we just turn this forum into the mexico forum? Because this has nothing to do with immigration.

Actually it does. As the article stated this was a battle between rival gangs over control of a lucrative section of the border. Now what makes it lucrative? Could it be quick access to sneak across the border? To smuggle both people and drugs across the border? This time it applies..
It also applies to border security. Thugs armed with military weapons are fighting over access to our country. They out gun our border patrol agents and pose a clear threat.

Agreed. Because comprehension is key to understanding what you are reading.

In this day and age of PC (especially when it comes to illegal aliens and their activities) reading between the deliberately blurred lines to ascertain whether said criminal is an illegal alien is also a necessary tool.

After a while reading between the lines in figuring out if they are or not becomes anything but rocket science.

This thread is actually relevant. This is an area used to smuggle both drugs and people. Its relevant because it shows what our border patrol face every day and the danger they are in. Body armor will not stop an ak47 round. I know this first hand.....

This thread is not so much about mexican violence in my eyes. It is about the threat our men in uniform face from accross the border. Not by mexico or mexican citizens as a people but by Mexican gangs who may very well if not for sure be using contacts within the USA. Our agents are not armed nor equiped well enough for such a stand off.
