I will be going to Pocatello with my girlfriend for my birthday(we are currently living in Idaho Falls and there is absolutely nothing to do here). We have been to Pocatello a few times seems to be nothing to do besides restaurants and shopping. However, the scenery is a lot nicer than Idaho Falls and the restaurants and buildings seem a bit newer. We are planning to go there because they have a Ruby Tuesday, something that isn't available in Idaho Falls. Is there anything else to do there? I don't want to drive an hour just to go out to eat. We do not have time to drive to Boise or Salt Lake City because we have work the next day. Any ideas? thanks for your input.

If you wanted to go a bit further than Pocatello, you could go to Lava if you're into hot springs and/or swimming Lava Hot Springs Idaho Vacation Resort - Hot Pools, Water Park and Swimming Pools

If gambling is your thing, you can stop off at exit 80 on the way south and visit Fort Hall casino.

Hope this helps.

Thanks I was actually thinking of Lava Hot Springs. I have not been there yet but heard some good reviews. I think it is pretty close to Pocatello too so I will have to try it out!

Not much to do. What kind of things are you into? See what performances are going at the Stephens Performing Arts Center, laser tag at Outer Limits, a hike up City Creek, .. If you have time you can take the long way to Lava.. the drive up over Buckskin Road might be nice for the fall colors.

IF and Pocatello are about equal in "things to do". If Ruby Tuesday is the only advantage, then that is just sad.

I agree, Fort Hall Casino is some fun entertainment, if you are so inclined. (Understanding many are not). However, Fort Hall offers pretty much the same slots you will get in Vegas, sometimes, even better. They, for better or worse, have kept up with the best technology in the slot biz as those in Nevada. Now, they just need to move it over to the new footprint in the under-construction hotel/events center. They are quite tight lipped about their plans, but this development is poised to become a central resort location in E. Idaho.

Not only do they have Vegas style slots, but bingo as well.

I too have noticed that they've switched it up after the economy tanked from being a new casino to a hotel/events center...

I would love to play Bingo! but I am going on Monday and the Bingo is not open on Monday or Tuesdays. I wish they had table games like poker though I wonder if they ever will?? I stopped in there once. It looked pretty nice.

lol they are pretty similiar... a lot of chain restaurants, movie theater, smaller mall.. but I do like the more mountain type views in Pocatello. I know Ruby Tuesday seems like an odd choice. I am nout usually a big fan of chains, but I have always liked it because of the big salad bar. I haven't been able to find a lot of vegetarian options since moving here!

They have an electronic table game of poker. Not like the small slot machine style, but with a screen that has your dealer. That is probably as close as they are allowed to get to authentic even being on a reservation there are restrictions.

There is bingo on Monday nights in Idaho Falls over at the Eagles lodge and you do not have to be a member to play.
