My wife and I are thinking of moving to Rathdrum and wont to know about daycare, lutheran churches and work. she might be working in CDA ( she a nurse), and I will be working in Spokane most likely ( I'm a welder). By our research, jobs- I HOPE- shouldnt be to hard but at lest one of us will have a job before moving. Any thoughts. Thanks a bunch.

Rathdrum is a pretty small place. So you may be going to CDA, Hayden, or Post Falls for a Lutheran church. There should be local daycare. For work, your thoughts are correct...not much work right IN Rathdrum. Expect to travel 10-20 miles each way for work in those professions. I have family in Rathdrum...and they commute to Post Falls for work....

There are a few Lutheran churches in the Rathdrum/Post Falls area. It all depends if you are ELCA or Missouri Synod.. If you are ELCA go to their website and it will list all the locations.

Rathdrum would be a ideal location if you are commuting to Spokane and she is commuting to CDA. It is a great 'little' town that is growing like crazy over the last few years.
Some developer even made his own 'lake' and a residential area around it. It kind of flopped in my opinion as it is not really a lake but rather a moat of water around a little island. Just had to throw that in...

A little google search reveals there's a Missouri synod church in Rathdrum:

Shepherd of the Hills Luthern Church
13541 W Highway 53, Rathdrum, ID.

(208) 687-1809.

I can't help you much more on the rest. I'll leave that up to the locals.

Thank you everyone for your replies. I guess I am just looking for your general thoughts of Rathdrum and maybe some reinforcement of our research. We were in the area last September and found Rathdrum, that's our kind of town. The drive to Spokane was a bout 15 minutes on a Saturday so on a weekday it should probably be 30 to 40 minutes depending whether, About the same to CDA, Any things better then 2 hours in traffic though Portland. Its insane here now and we've had enough. If I could get more thoughts about work. Mywife being a nurse she should be ok. As for me I am a welder all processes MiG tig and stick. The E-net shows a bunch of work for me but I hear though the grape vine that 5 shops closed last year so that's got me worried. Has anyone hard anything? And daycare, whats the pricing like there, hows good, hows bad. I don't wont to slam anyone but when it comes to my son I wont as much information as possible. Thanks again.
