And by that time, Huntsville/Decatur/Athens will be about the size of the Birmingham metro and puttering along with one fairly short segment of freeway. And the powers that be will wonder what we're complaining about.

I think Huntsville/Decatur/Athens being about the size of Birmingham metro in 2035 is a pipe dream. It won't happen in any of our lifetimes.

Currently, the CSA for Birmingham-Hoover-Talladega is 1,304,283. For Huntsville-Decatur-Athens it is 664,441.

If you prefer MSA, Birmingham is at 1,145,647. Huntsville is at 441,086.

Considering the Birmingham MSA is 6 counties, I'd hope so.

The Lowe's and Home Depot on Highway 72 West...which one of these is within the Madison City Limits? I am 95% sure which one it is, but I'd like to confirm.

While it's true that the Birmingham metro is 7 counties, 2 of those (Jefferson and Shelby) account for ~850,000 people.

So I was driving to work on US 72 this morning through Madison, and noticed the parking lot of the Chicken Salad Chick was full, and folks appeared to be camped out there.

Today is the grand opening, and there were some free items for the first customers today, and also some items for the first customers through Saturday I think.

Free giveaways planned as Chicken Salad Chick opens Madison location

Anyone that camps out to get a free sandwich at any restaurant grand opening seriously needs to go and be evaluated for mental conditions. If you want one that bad, go to the location that is already open and buy a sandwich. lol Some people are nuts.
