Included will be @15 courtrooms and underground parking. The current plan still has the current city hall (not the courthouse) demolished and converted to additional Big Spring park space.
Clarification on the site location per Al.com

site at 312 Fountain Circle, which is currently the city’s Inspection Department as well as home for the Madison County Emergency Management Agency. City operations occupy much of the building and will largely move to the new city hall once it opens next year, essentially rendering the city inspection building obsolete.
This building used to be the downtown public library before the current one was built.

Any idea what is happening at the corner of Pratt and Church between Pinhook Creek and 565? Formerly the cement plant. Fencing around the site, dirt being moved, Consolidated Contruction sign out front last I saw.

I thought this might be a possible courthouse site since it's adjacent to the jail.

the new downtown bus transfer station,

Construction on a new County Courthouse is probably a couple years away at best.

With that said the new County Chairman Mac McCutcheon (who replaced Dale Strong) wants more study done to see how much money would be needed and the overall condition of the existing building. He acknowledges something has to be done, is it worth fixing or is not. (similar studies were done for the existing City Hall).

Is that an additional courthouse annex, or a replacement for the current one? Sounds like 4-5 stories would be half the size of the current one.

Replacement, since a lot of services were moved to the new center at Oakwood and the Parkway, the new courthouse will mostly be courtrooms and offices affiliated with that. No jail either on the top floors, so yes it will be smaller but more courtrooms (15).

Seems odd though, even with the Oakwood annex, since the Madison County population has just about tripled since the present courthouse was built in the 1960s. The present Chairman doesn't seem all that sold on the idea of building.

Any updates on various projects/speculations around the downtown area? Things such as

- The Skybridge,
- The 22-story building at the end of the skybridge near Lowe Mill,
- The Front Row project (I think earth moving was supposed to start in December; nothing done yet, maybe because of all the rain).
- Is the Hyatt House still a thing?
- Others?
