Redstone Gateway has turned into an impressive development. It's essentially another research park, but closer to the customer.

Where did you find this information? I have been trying to find something more about it. No luck. Also, I am hearing there will be a mixed use development on Pratt Ave taking up two blocks from Dickson to Schuffman. Does anyone have any details on that?

Should be retail 1st floor and apartments above..

I agree. It shows what is possible when the federal government (Redstone Arsenal) and a local government (Huntsville) does something that benefits both of them. Now if only the federal government would cooperate more and make the Southern Bypass possible.

That's for sure. The Patriot Parkway route that was canceled 20 years ago, largely because of security worries after 9/11, should be renegotiated. A lot has changed since then (not talking politically, but local growth) and the original route would be much more usable than the plan for a short expressway taking off south at the Sparkman 565 interchange. And it should be able to be pulled off without compromising security on Redstone. Plus, it would be a direct extension of Resarch Park Blvd (the northern bypass) into Rideout Rd. The new proposal would have traffic somehow having to jog for a short distance.

Make Martin /Patton/Jordan Lane from I-565 the new Taliban Parkway. Take pressure off of Gate 9 and Research Park. Upgrade Gates 8 and 10

The building permit page for Huntsville has been updated (looks like they do it every two weeks).

Through August 14, there have been 4985 residential permits issued, 1001 for single family homes and 3984 for multi-family (I think they must issue one permit for each unit in an apartment complex, so it's the equivalent of about 13 complexes which seem to normally be about 290 units). Presumably these are all inside the Huntsville city limits since it's on a Huntsville web page.

I noticed in the Census numbers that the Town of Triana gained quite a few people, and from other sources there are numerous new building permits.

Has Triana extended their town limits northward to preempt Huntsville from taking over that area? There are quite a few houses, but the area looks pretty swampy - must require a lot of fill dirt to be brought in.
