A lot of details to come but a zoo/aquarium complex are still being planned somewhere in the area. The Capshaw area in east Limestone county is their mailing address and their is plenty of vacant land in that area, but we'll see.
I will say this, Perry /Becker and BRPH are legit and involved in Universal Studios, zoological development and design, resorts and hospitality in Florida and the Caribbean.

if it happens its got to be state of the art and done better than most.

I was wondering recently if this project was still on the table. I'm sure it's a relatively slowly evolving thing with funding being one of the prime drivers.

Looks like a nice facility. I'd love to have a first class aquarium here, and really, most cities of our size have a zoo. It boils down to, in a rapidly growing metro like we have, you can't do everything at once.

The aquarium/zoo facility is to be built on 500 acres. The only area in east Limestone County is north of Capshaw, South of Nick Davis and West of Sanderson Road near the Limestone Correction Facility. I wonder if it might be built near the Tennessee River, but the Wheeler Wildlife area would prevent that.

From the mailing address your Capshaw location would make sense. Access would have to be improved and I think I-65/ US 72 quick access would be priority. Believe the area has been pinpointed north of 72, west of Dupree Worthy td.

All those old sci-fi books and Twilight Zone episodes may become reality if the zoo and correctional facility combine.

There is a large horse center in that location along with a real estate listing for a 100+ acres just west of Dupree. It’s remarkable that the area is considered “Harvest”.

Here's a Reddit thread where some people sleuthed out the zoo location:

I stopped at the Bojangle's on Madison Blvd today, and it looks like ground is being broken for another project. There's a sign up, but I couldn't read it from the distance, but it's probably for the new hotel that's been mentioned for some time. I can't remember which brand. It'll be just south of the new Firestone Store.

Yeah, that seems like a very logical spot. One would think it would have to be a short distance off I-65 to catch the thru traffic.

I wonder which city, Huntsville or Madison, will manage to incorporate that site?
