Just to be clear this is for the new City Hall to be built on the municipal parking garage site on Gates Ave diagonally across from the Madison County Courthouse. The new Federal Courthouse will be built a few blocks away on Lowe/ Gallatin.

Yeah, I know. It's still not a bad looking building.

On top of the 900 single family homes the city has approved this year, they have approved another 2,945 apartment units. Clearly investors don't see Huntsville's growth slowing anytime soon. All of this is on top of the homes and apartments approved in Madison and the county.

Planning Commission Apartment Approval by year
2016 - 708 units
2017 - 420 units
2018- 554 units
2019 - 866 units
2020 - 2,163 units
1st half of 2021 - 2,945 units

just not getting a good vibe for this building, very cold and kind of strange. They really need escalators for that staircase which there is really nothing grand about it. Grand staircases are wide open and take you to a grand and impressive room, this one looks like it takes you down to the parking garage.
And the exterior is a lazy knockoff of the classic historic bank building next door. The city hall is kind of mocking it. Huntsville could have gone with an impressive modern look toward the future, instead it will be a tired boring forgettable government building. Very disappointing that better different architects were not involved. This looks like a summer intern was given this job to clean it up

I wouldn't really classify that as a "grand staircase" either.

The outside looks OK to me, but the staircase isn't what I visualize as "grand".
