That bridge would be a great boon for Huntsville. I agree that it will prove to be one of the most popular greenways in the city. Hope this grant comes through.

All dependent on being awarded a TIGER Grant. The deadline to submit an application for the FY 2018 BUILD Transportation Discretionary Grants program is July 19, 2018.
This I believe is Huntsville's third attempt. There is a lot of competition for these grants.
It doesn't seem like a significant number of people go to Lowes MIll to justify spending that much tax revenue on a bridge.

Seeing your previous posts, seems like you are one of the jealous people from outside seeing Huntsville grow.

That makes no sense.

I like Huntsville a lot. I've never bashed Huntsville in any previous posts. I lived in Huntsville. Can you quote any post of mine in which I bashed Huntsville?

This bridge doesn't anything.o do with growth. .I'm talking about the cost of it. A lot of stuff could be done with that amount of money.

Isn't it quite a hike from downtown to Lowe Mill? Of course, at my age going to the mailbox is quite a hike.

My apologies on the prejudice. You seemed to be very involved in your current hometown's threads.

I support the bridge by the way and I believe that it will spur tourists visiting Huntsville. When my friends visit Huntsville, I say let's go to Lowe Mill after visiting the Space Center. Lowe Mill is very unique with high concentration of artists in one area, and it's currently growing in fast pace. There're also Campus 805 and soon to be Stovehouse. I want to see this area grow and become more unique and entertaining place. And my understanding is that the bridge will be funded by the grant, if Huntsville is able to get it.

The impact would be much bigger than just improving access to Lowe Mill. It would likely become a popular place to walk or jog on nice days and spur further development at both ends. Downtown and Lowe Mill/Campus 805/Stovehouse are in areas that are quickly growing. This project would help link the two and fill in the gaps with further development.

Just read a pretty good AL.com article on Krystal's. New CEO is changing up the menu and opting to demolish and rebuild restaurants instead of renovating to bring them up to today's standards. Cited Alabama as one of their core states. I know of several Krystal's around HSV and Madison that could use a good bulldozer. I'm talking to you, Madison Blvd. and University Drive.

I didn't even know there WAS a Krystal on Madison Blvd. Most of the other fast food places there have rebuilt.

Just wish they'd build a Chick Fil A on Madison Blvd.

Downtown bike rental getting upgrade

Zagster approached Huntsville about the upgrade due to high usage over the past year, Chad Emerson said.

The bike inventory will go from 42 now with Zagster to about 100 bikes with Pace which is an upgrade from the regular Zagster bikes. The new bikes can be returned just about any public bike rack downtown not just Pace racks.
There will also be three new downtown locations for Pace racks: Outside the AM Booth's Lumberyard on Cleveland Avenue, the Huntsville/Madison County Visitor's Center on Church Street and at the Roundhouse at the Historic Huntsville Depot at the north end of the new downtown bike path on Spragins Street.
