My favorites are:

Connors in Bridge Street for steak

Grille 29 in Providence for steak and a fantastic banana souffle

Melting Pot in Bridge Street for fondue

Smokey's BBQ on University just west of Wall-Triana

Applebee's for all you can eat soup and salad (mon-sat lunch)

went for dinner at Cotton Row last weekend was very impressed. I second Connors and Grille 29 as good choices. Went to 1892 East recently and was pretty impressed too. Over in Jones Valley, Meza Luna is good also.

I agree with Connors and Grille 29. 801 Franklin is also wonderful! Still wanting to try Cotton Row...I've heard great things about it.

Cotton Row and Grille 39 are the best local restaurants in Huntsville in my opinion. I just went to D&L Bistro and found it to be very good. It seemed like a real restaurant. Cafe Berlin is also very good, and the only other restaurant that seems like a real restaurant to me. By real, I mean not chain like. Much better than I expected. Conners, Carrabba's, and Bone Fish Grill are the best chains to me. The Po-boy factory is a good local po-boy shop with quality and inexpensive New Orleans style food in a funky atmosphere.

1892 East is my favorite true local restaurant. It's locally owned, not a corporate or chain. They use nearly all locally grown ingredients in their dishes. And they have nothing but local and regional beers on tap as well. Their hamburgers are the best in town!

Po Boy Factory is also good for a locally owned New Orleans style food.

I have to agree. They have overtaken my lifelong favorite, Mullin's (which I still like a lot though). And Edith Ann's on South Parkway is another favorite, but it's a very long way from my Toney home. I haven't been to the Pratt Ave location yet.
