A couple of my original windows in my Madison house are rotting out and I need to replace them. I *think* I'll need to replace the whole window frame and window since I'm not sure I can just replace the windows - they are the sliding up and down type, I don't know what you call them.

In any event, the person I used to use is no longer around, so I need some recommendations for a good handyman type person/company who can give me some bids and advice on getting this done.

Who do you guys recommend?

Thanks,

Excellent. Although Wilson Lumber is where my builder got most of the wood for framing our house and I'm not sure if he got the window frames there also.

I want to replace the wood window frames with all plastic or fiberglass frames for rot resistance.

Thanks,

Henley Supply has quality windows and have installers that will come out and install them for you.
They sell a lot of windows and doors in the area so its possible your originals may have came from there but it is irrelevant as they can get most any style of window anyway.

One of their salesmen in the area is:

If all that needs replacing is the sash, that's an easy DIY project using something like a Jeld Wen Zap Pack to the tune of $200-300 per window for solid wood double pane type windows. You can get them with aluminum cladding on the outside for low maintenance.

Ha, I need glass replaced in one of my standard size double panes. Subscribed to this thread. Have no idea what it would cost.
