Wildlife Safari is great, isn't it?

I think Huntsville's too small t support one well, certainly a world class zoo. Cities a lot larger have had trouble supporting one, such as Nashville. And with the zoos at B-ham, Montgomery, Nashville, Memphis and Atlanta, I'm afraid it'd look like the Roswell, NM zoo did in the mid-'60s--all I can remember is an eagle in a small cage and that they had tried to fence in prairie dogs. And prairie dogs do what prairie dogs do...there where holes and prairie dogs all over the park the zoo was in. Trying to fence in prairie dogs is pretty pointless...

Isn't there some sort of safari adventure type of place going towards New Hope?

Harmony Park Safari. Buy some food to feed the emus, and I assure you a memorable time will be had by all.

20 years ago there was a sad little zoo out in the Harvest area over by Limestone Prison. They would take old and neglected circus animals and overgrown pets. Had a nice little petting area. A few elephants. Some lions. The wolves were scary. All in all my kids loved it, but they just didn't have the money or traffic to keep it going.
