All community college courses from any accredited American school up to a maximum of 72 credit hours automatically transfer to any state supported 4 year school for an RBA degree. It's surprising that this has to be formalized with an agreement. I suspect it is just a way to publicize the availability of RBA degrees. Most associates programs require in the vicinity of 60 credit hours to complete.

The official policy ...

"TRANSFER CREDITS Policies established by the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission (WVHEPC) regarding transfer of credit between institutions apply to students in the RBA program. In transferring credits from accredited institutions of higher learning to the RBA program, all passing grades are accepted. Credits earned though collegeequivalent credit/prior learning assessment shall be transferable to the RBA Degree Program. The maximum credit hours accepted from a junior or community college accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools or other regional accrediting association will not exceed 72 semester hours."

Regardless of "policy", I've always heard stories about people's credits not being accepted from one institution to another. I've even heard people say that they had to retake a class at WVU that they had previously taken at Marshall because the credits didn't transfer. Just another way to force people into taking more classes for more money. An official agreement like this will take the worry out of such a transfer.

I think the difference is, with the RBA program, acceptance is automatic and it is intentional that a very broad view is taken in terms of course content, while in program specific offerings, actual course content takes on a different perspective.

The nursing doctorate is interesting. I'm imagining that this is a professional degree instead of an academic one, requiring the numerous PhD level committee members and defense of a dissertation? That would have to be the case since it is to be offered entirely online.

Marshall University to offer a new Bachelor of Science degree program in computer and information security beginning in the fall semester of 2018.

Quote:
He anticipates Marshall will be among the first programs in the nation to earn accreditation from the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology’s Computing Accreditation Commission because of the university’s already experienced faculty and comprehensive curriculum. The program will satisfy the Core Knowledge Unit requirements of the National Center for Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense. Marshall’s College of Information Technology and Engineering has 10 faculty members with experience in the field and will add new courses to those that its computer science students have already been taking.
